Master Students

  • Co-supervision of Master and Diploma theses
  • Information about the Shared Master of Science on Semantic Web is available at http://www.semantic-web-academy.eu/. The program is currently in the process of being officially approved by the participating institutions and is likely to be launched in the summer term 2008.

PhD Students

  • We will define an exchange program between PhD students of the STI member institutions. PhD students can visit an associated institute for a given period of time thus having the chance to enrich their research background by meeting other people working on related topics. Further support is provided through summer schools and joint PhD schools, symposia, and supervision.
  • A PhD Symposium is commonly co-located and aligned thematically with a scientific conference. It is organized as full-day event, consisting of a presentation session including full and short presentations and of a poster session. Submissions are peer-reviewed by a scientific advisory committee, while accepted contributions are further supervised by designated mentors, who also attend the event to provide extended feedback to the students. Information about the format and structure of the STI PhD Symposium can be found for instance at http://ontoworld.org/wiki/KWEPSY2007.
  • STI members are also encouraged to organize joint PhD seminars, which can follow the model described at http://sos.sti-innsbruck.at/phd2007.
  • Finally, every year STI2 also recognizes its best PhD graduate with the PhD of the Year Award, to be presented at the STI International Off-site meeting.
